Press Release - 06-23-18 Kayakers

Case: FRC 18-4796

Date: 06-23-18

Time: 08:46 P.M.

On June 23th, The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, Blue Earth Police Department and the Blue Earth Fire Department responded to a call of two kayakers on the Blue Earth River who were caught in high current and one was pinned against a fallen tree.

David Frundt, age 47, and a 16 year old juvenile male were kayaking on the river which is currently in active flood stages with very strong currents. Frundt's kayak had been lodged against a tree and he was unable to get free due to the current. When law enforcement and the fire department arrived on scene Frundt was still clinging to the tree. The juvenile male made it to shore safely on his own.

Frundt was brought to shore safely by the responding agencies. He suffered no injuries during the incident.

The Blue Earth Ambulance and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted on the scene.
